The Gambia Upcountry Development Charity was started in April 2007 and aims to help the people in Gambia help themselves.
We are currently working with the villagers of Kanubeh in upcountry Gambia where there is little outside support and people live in poverty with no services.
The villagers wanted help to build their own school and to develop a Health Centre.
The villagers want to be independent of aid and generate their own income. We have helped the villagers start a bed and breakfast service to begin to generate income for the school
We have generated income in our local community and work with many key local partners in West Sussex.
We rely heavily on the compassion and generosity of individual and group donations, your donations will make such a difference. Every penny raised is spent on the children and families of Kanubeh
Contact us if you would like more information about Kanubeh,
information about us as a charity, or want to visit Kanubeh.
We are now fund raising for teachers, committed as we are to funding
the school for 3 years. CAN YOU HELP BY DONATING A MONTH`S
TEACHERS SALARY OF £50 TO HELP EDUCATE OVER 100 CHILDREN
WHO WILL BE ATTENDING THE SCHOOL. WE NEED 36 SUCH DONATIONS
TO COVER THE TEACHERS PER YEAR.
We are always looking at more ways to raise money. Please let us
know if you would like to donate or help us with our fundraising or
see what events we have coming up. |
