Visiting the village

The GUD founders, David and Janet Underwood, built 2 huts for the village to run its own bed and breakfast. Anybody wishing to stay in the village can contact Nfansu Darboe on 00 22 0739 6201. He is a teacher at Kanubeh Nursery School whose English is very good.

Kanubeh is deep upcountry and travelling conditions to the village are strenuous so visiting the village is better for those who are already in the area. The villagers have extremely basic living conditions and a desperate lack of services. Staying in the village will be a true and authentic experience of Gambian culture.
